Why I Hate: Rachel Green

No real logic here, just pure, unadulterated bile.

1. Monica is right - Rachel does steal her thunder, with alarming regularity. Stealing Monica's baby name is the one that sticks in my mind... Could Rachel not think of any other names?!

2. She doesn't know her 'you're' from her 'your' (The One With The Jellyfish). I get irrationally annoyed by that kind of thing.

3. They WERE on a fricking break. Now, if that happened to me, I would of course be upset that Ross had slept with someone else, but I really don't think it's a deal breaker... Technically he WAS in the right!

4. The whole London thing? Just another example of how she acts in a completely selfish and arrogant way, AND expects people to feel sorry for her in the process. Grr.

5. She gets me this annoyed, and she's only a ficitional character.

Yes, I watch too much Friends, what of it?

  1. Yeah coz if 4 happened to you you'd accept that right?

Sounds to me that you, like Monica, are just bitter and jealous of your better looking and more successful friend. It's quite sad.

  2. Well, I would have clarified the terms of the break first. Rachel is silly and forgot to.

Luckily for you, Monica developed a taste in slightly odd but very funny men.

  3. I only hate Rachel because she steals Monica's ideal girl's name. That is really selfish.

  5. She's really selfish, always wanting what she can't have. She's only ever in love with Ross when he's in a relationship and then when he dumps the other woman to be with her Rachel changes her mind and doesn't want to be with him. And even after she ruined his wedding in London she insisted on telling Ross she was still in love with him just because she wanted to and didn't take into account that she was going to hurt him.

    1. THANK YOU! She's this little spoiled brat who just can't bear to see Ross happy at all. I'm only into season 6 of yet, but i get the gist.

    2. I liked Rachel overall, but some stuff she did made me a bit annoyed with her, like when she was gonna move to Paris, and gonna take Emma, i dint think that was fair on Emma or Ross. Also she kept messing Ross about

  7. Oh, good. I can finally breathe a sigh of relief. I am not the only one who thought she sucked. For a while, I was getting pretty fed up with America's admiration for the selfish, ditzy blonde who's popularity is due to her pretty face. Monica and Phoebe are equally pretty but they are usually disregarded for being too awkward/weird. Monica was my favorite because she seemed very much like someone I'd be actually friends with: someone who's close with her older brother, marries her best friend, is an excellent cook and isn't a bitch. and she actually had a lot to struggle with: parents who neglected her in favor of Ross (but this rarely dampens their relationship as siblings), a crush who wasn't into her because of her weight, losing jobs, having a good relationship only to get brokenhearted after a while, having your best friend get your dream baby name just because she was emotional (it's a big deal for me). Whereas rachel's problem was that she had a huge nose, her family was too rich and boring (and so was her fiance), she wanted the unavailable guy who's been like her #1 fan since forever. She rarely had actual people issues. and when she did, it was usually taken very lightly. Honestly, Gunther had more personality than her.

  8. Oh God, I'm so happy I found this blog! I'm watching season 3 for like the fifth time or something, and I simply love Rosschel <3 I love Ross' affection for this spoiled immature little lady, and I love the way she slowly grows with it and develop real feelings for him too.

So why am I here? I'M HERE BECAUSE I REALLY, REALLY HATE THE WAY SHE GETS TO DESTROY ALL OF THIS! They really had it all - I mean he's really weird at some points, and she continues to behave in a selfish and destructive way, like when she almost had him drink fat just to prove what she already knows: That he's crazy about her, and willing to do whatever it takes to preserve their relationship. But they both go with the flow and end up having what most of us dream of. So I really don't get why she would ever break up with him - and she DID do so!! Ross made a mistake by showing his suspicion towards Mark, but at the end of the day it was only an unfortunate attempt to fight for his woman. He was scared to lose her, and chose to be vulnerable and honest about his feelings. And Rachel's reaction was to do the only thing he wanted to prevent. She goddamn used the word "break" herself.

Ross chooses to try moving on the same night, knowing in his heart it must be over for real, since he overheard Rachel being with Mark, which led him to think his suspicion wasn't that wrong. I suppose he didn't like the thought of waiting for Rachel for another 10 years, so I really don't see why he shouldn't be with that other woman, considering the circumstances - which means I would normally say that being with someone else the same night would be wrong - but again, he HAD REASON to believe that Rachel was going to do the same thing.

You all know what's going on for the next seven seasons until they finally reconcile at the very end. I guess we all have different opinions on Rosschel, and especially what caused their breakup. And it always takes more than one person to fight, but I really don't see how anyone would disagree that Rachel is the one to blame most. She was the one to break up, and yet she doesn't even want to take any responsibility for it. As said she sometimes behaves very spoiled and immature, and Ross accepts that; if she had been able to take care of his jealousy as well, the breakup would've never happen.

I know there is a reason all these things happen between them: It's one of the central issues throughout the entire tv-show. But I really wish the production had let them remain a couple, and left it to the four other main characters to make the voltage curve vary. Like in HIMYM, where Lily and Marshall more or less stay together the entire time, while the trouble goes back and forth between Robin, Barney and Ted. In the seven last seasons of Friends I don't find Rosschel's ups and downs the least funny to watch. I only see two people made for each other wasting seven years to figure out that fact themselves. If it hadn't been for Monica growing so much as a person, Chandler's dreadful pains, Phoebe finding her family and Joey always being funny because his character basically doesn't develop at all, I guess I would have stopped watching the show before time. I simply don't get how they manage to let us wait so long for what we all want to happen!

  9. I hate how selfish Rachel is. She's so arrogant and constantly believes the world and her friend group revolve around hers' and only hers' problems.

    1. YESSS! Another thing that constantly pissed me off to no end about her was how she gets angry at Ross for not giving her the number of the guy from the bar. "Who r u to decide what messages I do and do not get??" Bitch....u complained and tried to demolish his chances with the other girl from the baby store...and ur living in HIS apt. EVERY other time Ross was in a relationship she'd be so inappropriate and try to sabatoge it. And so mature...being jealous by whining and complaining ans calling the sales lady a whore....really classy. Grow up....so spoiled and used to getting everything she wants. Ross deserves sooooo much better. If anything....she's the whore who sleeps with any fricking dude she wants. And the name-stealing thing pissed me off soooooo much...I love the actress Jennifer Aniston...but this character just ticked me off to no end. That moment she gasped and said "Emma"....oh heck no....Monica is too nice for giving it to her. And that other time she kicked Chandler out of his own living room so she could talk to Joey...SOME RESPECT PLEASE!? It's not ur place....holy crap. I know its a running joke how ever pushes Chandler around...but really...u can stand to be a little considerate bitch.

    2. Can you please tell me when does rachel kick chandler out of his own room to talk to joey. I seem to have skipped that one.

  10. I am so glad i'm not the only one that hates rachel. She is so annoying and selfish never liked her in fact she's the only one i hate out of the group. Don't forget she hired tag and literally cockblocked him from everyone. He was interested in phoebe at first and she told him phoebe was "gay" then she dumps tag and fought with phoebe over the cellphone guy right after she dumps tag. She always steals monica's thunder. She is so selfish she always borrows monica's stuff and loses it. She drove monica's car without permission. What type of friend does that ?Monica is not jealous rachel was the jealous one always coming up with ways for people to pity her. Also that time when she couldn't speak up to her father and blamed ross for calling her used perished goods or something meanwhile ross never said that. It's like she's always out to ruin ross's relationships. Ross may not be the nicest guy but still rachel keeps messing around with his feelings. Don't forget all the bad stuff she taught ben.

  12. Rachel is just a straight up selfish, self-centered c*nt. The worst possible role model out of all the 6. To compare her to Monica as a potential partner is ridiculous as she brings precious little other than a sense of entitlement.
I am amazed that there is so much hate towards Ross- who is admittedly a geek and supposed to be the butt of jokes - but Rachel the c*nt gets a pass. SMDH

  13. When Ross prepared a special last night in NY for Emily, Rachel planned a fake party for her in order to get into Joshua's pants. She didn't care that Ross wanted to spent that last night with Emily and that was horribly selfish.
